Mr. Bailey, who had been in failing health for the past year, died at his home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Thomas Jefferson Bailey was a son of the late Harvey Bailey and Mary Keyser Bailey and was born at Stanley on March 17, 1875. He was a rural mail carrier and retired from that position in 1940. His wife, the former Miss Vinda I. Jenkins, who he married in 1897, preceded him in death on August 27, 1947. One son, Floyd N. Bailey, of Roanoke, and two daughters, Mrs. Churchill (Velva) Jenkins, and Mrs. Richard (Allene) Griffith, of Stanley, survive as do three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Annie Hutchinson, also of Stanley. Five brothers and two sisters are deceased. Elder E.W. Bradley had charge of the funeral service held Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock in the chapel at The Bradley Funeral Home and burial was in the family cemetery.
