A complication of ailments caused his death. He was 72 years old. He was born Oct. 24, 1849 in Dayton, Ohio, and came to Muscatine when nine years old. He married Miss Catharine Snyder in 1869, to which union five children were born, one of whom preceded him in death. He entered the employ of the local streetcar company thirty-two years ago and was one of the first to drive one of the old horse drawn cars then in operation. He retired from the service when the one man car service was inaugurated two years ago on account of ill health. He is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Baker, Mrs. Grace Kintzle and Mrs. Vincent Fuller, all of Muscatine; a son N.W. Bowlby of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. D.B. Addleman and Mrs. Jesse Oaks of this city and Mrs. Alvin Rice of Davenport; and a brother, John Bowlby of Conesville. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning from the home.
