Description	:	Thomas Jefferson Dennis, son of Joseph and Mary Dennis, was born on March 2, 1858, at Joliet, Illinois. When just a small child, he moved with his parents to Linn county, Missouri. During the residence of the family in this place, both parents of Mr. Dennis passed away and thus at a tender age, the boy was left an orphan to face life and its cares as best he could. Read More	Thomas Jefferson Dennis, son of Joseph and Mary Dennis, was born on March 2, 1858, at Joliet, Illinois. When just a small child, he moved with his parents to Linn county, Missouri. During the residence of the family in this place, both parents of Mr. Dennis passed away and thus at a tender age, the boy was left an orphan to face life and its cares as best he could. On June 26, 1888, Mr. Dennis was happily united in matrimony to Miss Nancy L. Gillespie of Laredo, Missouri, and to this union were born three daughters, Ida E. Mrs S.B. Albro, residing in Fairmont, Nebraska; Stella Gertrude, who died in infancy; and Geniza M., Mrs. Wray Eggleston, residing in Sacramento, California. Mr. and Ms. Dennis and their children moved to Fillmore county, Nebraska in 1897, and this county has continued to be their home ever since. After an illness of several months duration and notwithstanding all the loving care that his dear ones unceasingly gave, the end came on Wednesday forenoon, April 29, when life's journey ceased for him at the age of seventy-three years, one month and twenty-seven days. Mr. Dennis is survived by his sorrowing wife and two daughters; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers; one sister; a number of nieces and nephews and other family connections. His passing is mourned by his many neighbors and friends in the community who knew him as successful in his occupation as a farmer, and as a loving husband and father, whose constant interests lay in the care and provision, he always showed for the dear ones of his family circle. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Fairmont Methodist church on Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Henry Stitt, and attended by a large gathering of the relatives and neighbors of the family. Hymns were sung by Mesdames Charles R. Shoemaker and W.R. Dorrance and Messrs. O.B. Todd and Oliver Moul, the last named singing the solo: "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Miss Ruth Hurst accompanied at the piano. A guard of honor was in attendance, composed of the ladies of the Royal Neighbors. Pallbearers were Messrs C.J. Watson, Charles Taylor, John Tutty, Ira McDonald, Z.C. Stephenson and Walter Churchill.
