Thomas Jefferson Ferebee was born near Kokomo, Indiana, September 14, 1846. When about twelve years of age he removed with his parents to Richland county (sic), Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood. In his young manhood he was married to Elizabeth Crandell of the same county. to this union three children were born, two of whom died in childhood. His wife also died leaving to his care the one remaining child. On April 12, 1877, he was again married, to Ella Palmer, of Richland, county (sic), Wisconsin. In 1878 he, with his wifeand (sic) child, removed to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, landing here October 20. While seeking a location on which to establish a permanent home, he lived in dugouts located on lands belonging to his brothers-in-law, James and George Crandell, on Oxbow creek (sic) north of Nelson. In the spring of 1880 he removed to a farm five files (sic) north and a half mile east of Nelson, where he resided until the time of his death. Mr. Ferebee was summoned by death on Sunday, October 16, 1932, being 86 years, 1 month and 2 days of age. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 23, 1927. Since that time he was cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Hutchinson and husband. This family was blessed with seven children, four of whom are still living. Mr. Ferebee was fortunate in having most of his surviving children near him to cheer and comfort him in his declining years. They are: Mrs. Mildred Hutchinson, Mrs. Fern Brookhart and Mr. Fay Ferebee, all of this community. His youngest son, Clive Ferebee, of Bellflower, California, though unable to be present at the time of his death, paid him an extended visit two years ago. He is also survived by six grand children and three great grand children; also by four brothers: Samuel A. Ferebee of Nelson, James M. of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Matt of Blue River, Wisconsin, and Frank who lives in Michigan. During his early manhood he became identified with the Christian Church in Richland county (sic), Wisconsin. Uncle Tom as he was familiarly called by the entire community, was a kind and loving husband and father and an obliging neighbor honored and respected by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Kilpatrick, at the Pleasant View U.B. Church at 2:30 October 8th, and the body was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery (sic). CARD OF THANKS.
