Funeral services were held Friday Dec 10 in Wayne Methodist Church. Officiating were the Rev John D Williams the Rev Benjamin B Barnes and the Rev Kenneth Word. He had lived in Georgetown for many years where he was a merchant until his retirement in 1960. Mr Forbes was a member of the Winyah Lodge No 40 Ancient Free Masons for fifty years. He was a member of Wayne Methodist Church. Mr Forbes was twice married. His first wife Mrs Florence Ann Lowrimore Forbes died in 1944. Surviving are his widow Mrs Bessie Morris Forbes of Georgetown; seven sons Colbert A Forbes and Carl A Forbes both of Philadelphia Penn Robert S Forbes of Georgetown William J Forbes of Gary Indiana Harry B Forbes of Laurinburg NC Marvin J Forbes of Memphis Tenn and John T Forbes of Norfolk Virginia; six daughters Mrs Elnita Wisconski of Philadelphia Pa, Mrs Laurine McPhearson of Miami Florida, Miss Minnie Forbes of Columbia SC Mrs Mary McLean of Charleston, Mrs Linda Jordan and Miss Thomasina Forbes both of Georgetown; a number of grandchildren several great grandchildren three sisters Mrs Lelia McConnell of Andrews and Mrs Annie Burke both of Georgetown and several nephews and nieces.
