Read More	*Thomas Jefferson Scott* The community was saddened this week; by the passing of one of it's earliest and time honored settlers T. J. Scott. Mr. Scott has been in failing health for a couple years; but had been up and about until about a month ago when he became very ill; his heart failed him more and more although everything possible was done. Thomas Jefferson Scott was born at Williamsfield, Illinois August 23, 1857, and left this earthly life at his home, four and a half miles west of Chambers at 11:30 Saturday night, February 17th, 1934, being 76 years, 5 months and 24 days old. The deceased moved here from Johnson County, Nebraska, fifty two years ago. Taking as his homestead the place the place where he has resided all these years until his death. On October 14, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Walch. He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife and their four children: Walter at home, Harry of South of Chambers, Mrs. May Harley of Atkinson, and Mrs. Dona Carson of Chambers; three grandchildren: Frank, Robert and May Scott besides a large circle of friends. Mr. Scott was a quiet, unasumming man, mindful of his own business, energetic and prosperous. A good neighbor and when he made friends he kept them. Short services were held at the home at 2 p.m. with final services at the Baptist Church at 2:30 Monday afternoon, Rev. A. P. Sengpiehl officiating. A mixed quartette Mr. and Mrs. Leo T. Adams, Miss Rena Coppoc and Floyd Cooper sang "Sweet Bye and Bye", "Old Rugged Cross," and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. John Daly accompanist. Pall bearers were John Walter Sr. C. E. Tibbets, Van Robertson, E. V. Sageser, M. L. Sageser and Herman Rubin. Interment was made in the Chambers cemetery.
