Description	:	THOMAS WALLER was born April 21, 1819, in Lincolnshire, England, and died at his late residence in Leon, Iowa, March 6th, 1903, being 83 years,1l0 months and 15 days of age. The father of the deceased, THOS. WALLER SR., was an exciseman under the English Government and also a Minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. When the deceased was two years of age he suffered the loss of his devoted mother, one year later his father died. Five children were thus left orphans by the death of their parents. Read More	THOMAS WALLER was born April 21, 1819, in Lincolnshire, England, and died at his late residence in Leon, Iowa, March 6th, 1903, being 83 years,1l0 months and 15 days of age. The father of the deceased, THOS. WALLER SR., was an exciseman under the English Government and also a Minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. When the deceased was two years of age he suffered the loss of his devoted mother, one year later his father died. Five children were thus left orphans by the death of their parents. Some years later one brother and one sister died in England. Another brother went as a missionary to the West India Island, but only lived one year after his arrival there. The subject of this sketch also studied to become a missionary, but through lack of means he failed to complete his course and thereby suffered the disappointment of a long cherished ambition. In l83l he decided to come to America, having preached for some months previously for that church known as the Methodist new connection. In l832 he was married in Illinois to MISS CATHARINE SMITH. To them were born nine children, five of whom are still living. In l860 a sad bereavement overtook the family in the loss of the wife and mother. In l86l MR. WALLER was married to MISS LOVINA T. HOLMES. FATHER WALLER has been more or less active as a Minister during his whole life in this country. In l843 he was appointed to a charge in the Illinois conference of the Protestant Methodist Church. When the Methodist Episcopal Church divided in l845, on the question of salary, he united with the Congregational Church. In l846 he moved from Illinois to Nebraska. Then he organized the second Congregational Church in that state. He also assisted in organizing the first Congregational social and in dedicating the first Congregational Church which existed in Omaha. With 14 others he was identified in obtaining a charter for the first institution of learning in the territory, and was located at Fontanelle. In the year l858, he moved to Decatur County, Iowa, where he has since resided. As soon as he located in Iowa he took up the mission work under the auspices of the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches. He continued to work under the direction of these churches for several years, after which he united with the Methodist Church. He has always been respected and loved in every community where he has resided. As a citizen he was loyal and patriotic, as a husband he was kind and loving, as a Christian his life was exemplary in every respect. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from henceforth, yet saith the Lord, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them." The funeral services were conducted at the M.E. Church, Sunday afternoon, March (can't read). Rev. W.S. Hooker D. D., preached the sermon and interment was made in the Leon Cemetery.
