He was the son of Thomas Broughton and Elizabeth RILEY CURTIS who lived all their lives at Aurora, Indiana and reared at that place, their family consisting of four sons and one daughter, of which Thomas Judson was the third. He was the son of Thomas Broughton and Elizabeth RILEY CURTIS who lived all their lives at Aurora, Indiana and reared at that place, their family consisting of four sons and one daughter, of which Thomas Judson was the third. JUDSON was married May 8th, 1872 to Louisa BAINUM and resided at Aurora, Indiana until the year 1896. At this place all their children were born, consisting of six sons and one daughter. Arthur, the eldest, who departed this life October 2nd, 1918; Walter B. of Carthage, Ill.; Florence CURTIS BURNER of Normal, Ill.; Hubert of Charles City, Iowa; and Robert and Ralph of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Stanley, who lives on the home farm at Batavia, Iowa. In the year 1896 Judson CURTIS and family moved to Bellflower, McLean County, Ill., where he resided until the year 1903. At this place the three eldest children were married. In the spring of 1903, Brother CURTIS and his family, who were still living at home, moved to a farm three miles west of Batavia, Iowa, which was their home for a number of years, later moving to their home at Batavia, Iowa, where Father and Mother CURTIS lived until their death Mother CURTIS departed this life November 19th, 1926 and Father CURTIS passed away at 2 o'clock A M. May 21st, 1928 at the age of 79 years. Mother CURTIS was reared in a Methodist home and was a consistent and active member of that faith all of her life. Father CURTIS was reared in a Baptist home and united with the Methodist Church about thirty years ago. They lived a happy and useful life, through a period of development, the greatest that America, and the world has ever seen, leaving a host of friends, wherever they lived, and a line of direct descendants, consisting of five living sons, one daughter, thirty eight living grandchildren, and five little grandchildren, who have passed from this life in their infancy and early youth, and three great grandchildren Father and Mother CURTIS were worthy examples of true pioneer sporit, that has, down through the ages, made the world a better place, and surely all who consider the influence of their lives, will rise up and call them, "Blessed."
