Mr. Kembery was born in Somersetshire, near Bath, England May 7th 1835. He came to this country in 1853 and to Adair county in 1861 and therefore has been a factor in the history and developement(sic) of this county and has seen what was then largely a wilderness become a land of plenty doted(sic) with beautiful homes. Mr. Kembery was born in Somersetshire, near Bath, England May 7th 1835. He came to this country in 1853 and to Adair county in 1861 and therefore has been a factor in the history and developement(sic) of this county and has seen what was then largely a wilderness become a land of plenty doted(sic) with beautiful homes. During his early residence here he was engaged in teaching school. In 1865 he enlisted in the 2nd Iowa calvary Co. I, and served nine months. He was married to Sarah A. Campbell September 13th, 1866. Seven children three sons and four daughters were born to them and all except one daughter survive him. Mr. Kembery was a man of education and broad reading. He was a good neighbor, a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed and kindly remembered by a host of friends left behind. Funeral services were held at the family home at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. John T. Newel delivered the funeral address on the subject "If a man die shall he live again." Interment was made in the Garner cemetery in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends who, no with standing the inclemency of the weather had gathered to show their respect and sympathy.
