Marshall was born near Georgetown, Ohio, January 2, 1835, and died August 24, 1907, at the home of his sister, Mrs. N. S. Dunn in Sardinia, where he has been making his home for the past four years. Marshall was born near Georgetown, Ohio, January 2, 1835, and died August 24, 1907, at the home of his sister, Mrs. N. S. Dunn in Sardinia, where he has been making his home for the past four years. He was the youngest son of William and Rebecca Marshall, who were the parents of 13 children, all of whom have deceased except Mr. Dully Hill, the oldest, and Mrs. N. S. Dunn, next to the youngest. Mr. Marshall enlisted in the Army of the Union under Lincoln's first call, April 18, 1861, at Danville, Illinois, in Company C, 12th Illinois Infantry, and was discharged at Cairo, Illinois, August 1, 1861, re-enlisting at Sardinia, October 12, 1861, in Company B, 11th Ohio Calvary, and was discharged the second time on April 1, 1865, at Omaha, Nebraska. Soon after the war he went West and made his home for many years at Dodge City, Kansas, where he made many friends. While living in that city he was a member of the Lewis Post No. 294, G. A. R.
