The information below was provide by FAG member Linda L (#48423540) Col. Thomas Laws knew great sorrow. His first wife was Abigail Atkinson. After her death, Col. Laws married her sister, Mrs. Mary (Atkinson) Bean of Canterbury. She died only two years later on Aug. 23, 1834. His third wife was Clarissa Melvin of Peterborough. Thomas and Abigail had twin girls born in 1826 named Maria and Mary. Maria died at 14 months on Dec 28, 1827. Mary died at age 14 years on March 1, 1841. They had a daughter, Harriette. There is no information about her, other than she was born in Washington. Alfred, the last child was born in Washington and then resided in Brockton, Mass.(1885) Col. Laws married a third time to Clarissa Melvin. They had Thomas M. Laws, born in Washington. The son, also Thomas, was last known to be living in Kansas. There were three more boys all born in Washington. Wallace (no information), Willis A., born 1839. Willis died on May 6, 1841 at age 21 months, and Clinton born in September 1, 1844. Clinton died on Oct 15, 1844 Col. Thomas brother Ebenezer had 7 children. None of the marriages or deaths are listed in Washington Vital Records except that of Col Thomas Laws who died on May 31, 1853. The information was provided by the Washington Historical Society.
