Description	:	Thomas "Tom" was the second of 2 children to join sister Kathy and parents Pat (Calhoun) and Paul Matovich. Raised in Columbus, Tom had a knack for science from an early age. He wired an intercom in the family home when he was in the 8th grade. Curly red hair and freckles he always seemed to have a ready smile. He was born on March 21, 1958, to Paul and Patricia Calhoun Matovich and he joined a sister, Kathy, at the family home in Columbus. He graduated from Columbus High School and earned degrees in physics and mathematics at Montana State University in Bozeman. After working in the computer industry in New Mexico and Utah, he found his home in the Bozeman area, where he began his own business, Frontier, "where art and science meet the practical world with mathematical models, computer hardware, log cabins, post and poles, firewood, energy systems, architecture and specialized construction." His talents were offered at a fair price. He enjoyed tai chi, long distance running, yoga, the Physics Department at MSU, volunteering. with the Bozeman Schools' Enrichment Program and music. Tom could be found practicing his mechanical skills, hiking and sharing enlightening conversation with his many friends in the area. Tom's family and friends will miss his intellect, his creativity and his humor. Tommy was a gentle spirit, one to tread lightly, but open to offer his assistance and advice when it was appropriate. He may be gone from sight but he will not be forgotten. A memorial honoring Tom will be held at 7 p.m. on March 4, 2004, in Bozeman at The Leaf and Bean. His grave side service will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at Mountain View Cemetery in Columbus. Memorials can be sent to the Bozeman Public Library Foundation, 524 East Mendenhall, Bozeman, MT 59715; designated for the new library. ******
