Description	:	Thomas Lee "Tommy" Dantzler, 82, of Orangeburg, died peacefully at his residence, Saturday, July 21, 2012. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, July 23, at Bethel United Methodist Church on Charleston Highway with the Rev. Curtis Felkel, the Rev. Frank McLellan, and the Rev. Ken Hay officiating. Pallbearers are Andy Dantzler, Johnny Dantzler, Rod Dantzler, Ricky Jones, Bert Bozard, and Frankie Whetsell. Honorary pallbearers are the Men and Women Group of Bethel United Methodist Church and the former members of Laymen Bible Class of First Southern Methodist Church. Mr. Dantzler was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Darious Lewis Dantzler and the late Lula Ayers Dantzler. He was a former member of the First Southern Methodist Church for 39 years in Orangeburg and present member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a retired supervisor from Coble Dairy, retired owner/operator of Dantzler Package Shop, and was owner operator of D&R Convenience Store. He was a farmer and an avid deer hunter. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Violet Whetsell Dantzler of Orangeburg; one daughter, Jan Reynolds of Summerville; two sons, Jerry and Susie Dantzler of Simmonsville and Chad Dantzler of Orangeburg; a special friend; B. J. Yount of Elloree; five grandchildren, Dan Reynolds of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Jaret Reynolds of Staten Island, N.Y., Tracey and David Thackston of Fountain Inn, Suzanne R. Nahmad of Summerville and Cory Dantzler of Ola; five great-grandchildren, Landon Thackston and Jonas Thackston of Fountain Inn, Emma Grace Nahmad and Eli Nahmad of Summerville and Noah Reynolds of Staten Island, N.Y.; one brother, Roger Dantzler of Cameron; sisters-in-law; Betty Dantzler of Orangeburg and Helen and Gus Hartzog of Bowman; brothers-in-law; Marion D. Whetsell Jr. of West Columbia, Bill and Sandra Whetsell of Bowman and Tommy Whetsell of Vance; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the residence and at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Dantzler requests memorials to be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Linda Ashe, 679 Dusty Road, Cope, SC 29038, or to Grove Park Hospice, 1324 Chestnut St., Orangeburg, SC 29115.
