Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul Ostrem will officiate. Pallbearers will be Hal Staley, Charles Morrison, James Coder, Joe Gaeta, Barry Brauns, and George Taylor. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Martin was born on March 25, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of Estel Thomas and Ella Lavina Reeves Martin. He married Darlene Freese on June 29, 1958, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine. He was a 1958 graduate of Muscatine High School. He was a grain farmer all of his life and also raised quarter horses. He attended the Zion Lutheran Church; he was a member of the Muscatine County Fair Board for 12 years, most recently serving as Vice President; he also served as Horse Superintendent of the Muscatine County Fair; for 17 years he was a 4-H Leader of the Muscatine Wranglers Horse and Pony Club; he was a honorary 4-H member 1996; he served as a horse judge; a member of Farm Bureau; and the Moose Lodge No. 388. He enjoyed farming, horses, fishing, gambling and spending time with his many friends and most of all his family. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Martin of Muscatine; one son, Terry Martin and his wife, Carmen, of Muscatine; two daughters Deb LaRue and her husband, Gregg, of Muscatine, and Sandy Hagens and her husband, Scott, of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Elisa and Andrea LaRue, Kelsey and Megan Martin, and Ryan and Derek Hagens; two sisters, Effie McCleary of Muscatine, and Laura Williams and her husband, Harold, of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
