Read More	Thomas ‘Tom' Majors January 28, 1935 – April 1, 2010 Published: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 9:31 AM CDT Thomas "Tom" Majors, age 75, of 1128 Hancock Drive, died at his home on April 1, 2010. His body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Tom was born in Boone County near Centerville on January 28, 1935, the son of Robert and Goldie (Patterson) Majors. He attended Hickory Grove School. Tom served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Tom and his wife, Janice C. (Baldus) Pulver, have been together for 34 years. In earlier years, he worked for the Hygrade Meat Packing Plant for 23 years in Washington State. He then worked for Story Construction in Ames and then as a custodian at Iowa State University for nine years. Tom later worked as a maintenance man for the City of Boone in the Parks and Recreation Department and Linwood Park Cemetery. He was a member of the V.F.W. #817 and the Loyal Order of Moose #104. Tom loved country music, especially Johnny Cash, and watching western movies. He also enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard, hunting for mushrooms, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rhonda, five brothers, Robert Jr., Donald, Raymond, Harold, and James Majors, and three sisters, Gladys Paris, Margaret Lykins, and Betty Loehrer. Tom is survived by his wife, Janice Pulver of Boone; four sons, Darrin Majors and Darrell Majors and wife Sandy of Washington State; John Pulver and wife Hope of Boone, and Joshua Majors and companion Elly McFarland of Boone; four daughters Marie McKenzie and husband Lawrence, Cindy Copenhaver and husband Roger, Cheryl Smith and husband Steve, and Carrie Majors, all of Washington State. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; two sisters Doris Paris of Boone and Margery Lau of Oelwein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
