Death of One of the Young Business Men in This City. This morning at 4 o'clock, at the family home, 1620 First corso, occurred the death of Thomas Milton McClimans, and the news was a shock to his numerous friends, as but few knew that he was dangerously ill. Several months ago he was threatened with pneumonia, but recovered, but never regained his full strength, and has been in poor health since. Thursday last he was up town and was a visitor at The News office. He was then very weak but expressed the opinion that he would soon be all right and ready for active business. He went home that afternoon and Friday did not appear as well, and Saturday morning early he became unconscious and remained so until his death this morning. The cause of his death was pneumonia. Thomas Milton McClimans was born in Greenville, Pa., being the youngest of a family of five children-three brothers and two sisters, and at the time of his death was aged 44 years, 9 months and 14 days. He came to this city in June, 1887, entering the employ of F. W. Petring, with whom he remained until the spring of 1896, when he formed a partnership with W. A. Hughey and engaged in the grocery business. They continued this for some time, but having a favorable offer they disposed of their business. In the spring of 1901 he and C. A. Petring purchased the Vitrified Brick company's plant, which they conducted until the death of Mr. Petring and later the Nebraska City Brick company was organized with Mr. McClimans as president and he held that position at the time of his death. He was also one of the most enthusiastic members of the Otoe Development company and it was almost entirely due to his efforts that the requisite amount of stock was subscribed and the company put on a financial footing whereby a well could be sunk to ascertain whether there is coal, oil or gas beneath us. "Milt," as he was always called, was a most companionable gentleman, always had a kind word for all and he was never heard to harshly criticise any one. He was married, November 5, 1902, to Miss Savena [sic] Petring, who survives him. He was a member of Western Star lodge, No. 2, A. F. & A. M. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence, and the services will be conducted by Rev. J. A. Koser, of the Lutheran church, of which church Mr. McClimans was a member.
