Tarratus, 60, of 4642 Royal Ave., an employee of Cohen Brothers since he was nine years old, died late yesterday in his home after a brief illness. Mr. Tarratus, a buyer for Cohen Brothers at the time of his death, came to Jacksonville from Middleburg 51 years ago and had been an employee of the firm since then. He was a member of Middleburg Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ollie T. Hallman and Mrs. Hazel M. Meek of Jacksonville; and two brothers, Robert W. Tarratus of Savannah, Ga., and William Tarratus of Jacksonville. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Seashole Funeral Parlors. Tarratus, who passed away Sunday at his residence, 4642 Royal Ave., will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel of Seashole Funeral Parlors. Pallbearers will be: Active: H. T. Donaldson, W. H. Railsback, John C. Richard, William E Garvin, Joe Geer, Parker Dorsey and Bob Barber; honorary: Julius Mack, Col. Robert E. Seitner, Halle Cohen, D. H. Stynchcomb, B. D. Wyrick, W. C. Amick, J. E. McGregor, Dr. M. E. Morrow and Ray Williams. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park. Mr. Tarratus was a native of Middleburg but had lived in Jacksonville since he was 9 years old. He had been connected with Cohen Brothers for 51 years and at the time of his death was a buyer. Mr. Tarratus was a member of the Middleburg Methodist church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ollie T. Hallmann and Mrs. Hazel M. Meek, this city; and two brothers, Robert W. Tarratus of Savannah, Ga. and William Tarratus, this city.
