Description	:	Following is the obituary notice for "Oscar" printed in the Redfield Journal-Observer, Thursday, August 16, 1923 issue: "Thomas Oscar Cox was born November 3, 1859, in Jennings County, Indiana. He was a son of Jesse and Polly Ann Cox. The deceased went to be with his Father, from whom he received his spirit, in a peaceful sleep on Saturday morning, August 4th, 1923. Read More	Following is the obituary notice for "Oscar" printed in the Redfield Journal-Observer, Thursday, August 16, 1923 issue: "Thomas Oscar Cox was born November 3, 1859, in Jennings County, Indiana. He was a son of Jesse and Polly Ann Cox. The deceased went to be with his Father, from whom he received his spirit, in a peaceful sleep on Saturday morning, August 4th, 1923. In 1882, with forty other young men, he being the leader, led the way to the altar and was truly converted. He joined the Missionary Baptist church at Mt. Pleasant, and he has lived a true Christian life. He was a strong temperance worker and a firm advocate for the things he believed to be right. He often admonished others with the words "Be Ye Steadfast To The End." As a young man he was an active worker in the church and Sunday school and he loved to sing. It was in this capacity that he helped much, always in sacred music. In 1888, January 2nd, he was united in marriage to Lydia K. Porter of Sylvia, Kansas, and to that union seven children were born, six daughters and one son. Mrs. Lucy Harvey of Hutchinson, Kansas; Flora E. Cox of Canadian, Texas; Mrs. Mildred Rayman of Fowler, Indiana; Mrs. Letha McGrevy of Layfayette, Indiana; Mrs. Sadie Ames, Mrs. Wm. Neitzel and Roy P. Cox of Tulare, South Dakota. The deceased was a kind and loving husband and father and he leaves to mourn his departure his loving wife and children and twenty-four granchildren besides numerous friends who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing relatives."
