Barr, living northeast of town, passed away at Christ's hospital in Topeka about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had been in Christ's hospital only a short time, death being very sudden and due to a stomach perforation from an ulcer. Mr. Barr was 65 years old and a farmer from the Americus territory. Burial will be made in the Comiskey cemetery. ************************ The Council Grove Republican, 03 Jul 1945, Tuesday THOMAS OSSIAN BARR Thomas Ossian Barr was born March 16, 1880, in Emporia, Kans. and died June 27, 1945 at Christ Hospital at Topeka, Kansas. Approaching the age of 65 years, he was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Barr, deciest (sic) of Emporia, Kansas. Two brothers, Otis and George, preceeded (sic) him in death. He is survived by one brother, Volney S. Barr of Council Grove, Kansas, and three nieces, Mrs. Joe E. Dike of Tonapak (sic), Nev., Miss Lucille Barr of Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Juanita Carine of Santa Paulo (sic), Calif. Thomas attended school in Emporia, Kansas. In his early years he yorked (sic) as a carpenter with his father. He then took up farming on his father's farm in the Fruitland district, Lyon Co. He later moved to Americus, Kan. The last four years he has been in Topeka, Kansas. He died suddenly at Topeka, Kansas of ulsehs (sic) of the stomach. He had always been a hard worker and was always ready to help any one out. He would share his last ration with any one. While he lived in Americus, Kansas he took interest in church activities and attended the Presbyterian church. He will be missed and remembered by his relatives and friends. ************************ The Emporia Gazette, 09 Jul 1945, Monday FORMER EMPORIAN DIES Thomas O. Barr, a native of Emporia, died in a Topeka hospital recently. He was 65 years old. Mr. Barr was born in Emporia March 19, 1880, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Barr. He attended school in Emporia and worked in the carpentry business with his father. He worked on a farm in the Fruitland district west of Americus. Later he moved to Americus and four years ago to Topeka. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He is survived by a brother, Volney S. Barr, of Council Grove; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Dike of Tonopah, Nev.; Miss Lucille Barr, Wichita; Miss Juanita Crane, Santa Paula, Calif.
