Description	:	In 1816 guardianship proceedings for Harriet Pearson, daughter of his wife's brother, Amos Pearson, Jr. deceased mariner, of Boston, Thomas's character was recommended by Selectman Eli Young of Pittston, who wrote the court that Mr. Thomas Palmer was "...a person of good circumstances, and of a sober life and conversation and one who may with propriety be appointed a guardian to an orphan." Judge Josiah Stebbins, Esq. wrote, "He is a thrifty, diligent, honest man, in good circumstances; one who may with discretion and propriety be appointed a guardian to an orphan who needs a friend in that...
