He was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, October 5, 1807 from which place he removed to Howard Township, Wayne County, Iowa in 1852, where he has followed the occupation of farming. He was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, October 5, 1807 from which place he removed to Howard Township, Wayne County, Iowa in 1852, where he has followed the occupation of farming. For several years he was Justice of the Peace which office he acceptably filled with dignity and with firmness in what he considered right. He was kind and affectionate husband and father, an agreeable and hospitable friend and neighbor, well liked by all who knew him. He more than filled the term of three score years and ten allotted to man, being at his death nearly seventy seven years old. During his lengthened sickness of about six months he frequently expressed a willingness to depart this life and among his sorrowing friends he quietly passed away saying that he was contented and ready to die..."
