Thomas Sharp "Tom" Hughes died at City Hospital as the result of an automobile accident.
He was survived by his wife, Dora (Russell) Hughes (married in 1925); his daughter, Helen Bertram; his son, Russell Hughes; his sisters, Eliza Colyer of Frankfort, Indiana, Fannie Bratschi of Exline, Iowa, Carrie Dykes of Logan, Montana, and Sallie Hail of Ferguson, Kentucky; his brothers, Clarence Hughes and Dick Hughes, both of Ruth, Pulaski County, Kentucky; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Hughes and Elizabeth (Keeney) Hughes; his first wife, Anna (Wilburn) Hughes; and one son.

Funeral services were held at the home on East Highway 80 with Reverend Clifford Randall officiating.
