Page 4Butte County Sheepman Found Shot To Death - Fatal Wound Believed Accidentally Self -Inflicted- BELLE FOURCHE, Jan 30 -(Special)Thomas Sheridan, about 30, residing with is mother and two brothers on a sheep ranch 10 miles north of Hoover, in Butte county, was found shot to death near his ranch home this morning. His body was found near a fence with a .30 Cal., rifle alongside. It is believed that he started to go thru the fence when the rifle was accidentally discharged the bullet virtually tearing off his head. The accident was believed to have happened sometime before 6 o'clock Monday night, as members of his family were all home by that time and the shot from the rifle was not heard. When members of his family returned home lat in the afternoon the hired man had left the place and when Sheridan did not appear they assumed that he had gone to town with the hired man. The latter returned to the ranch this morning, having gone to Belle Fourche to have his car repaired. A search for Sheridan was instituted which resulted in his lifeless body being found a short distance from the ranch house. Butte county authorities visited the scene and announced later that an inquest would not be required. Sheridan is survived by his mother, Mrs. Julia Sheridan, and two brothers, Howard and Philip Sheridan. All live on the ranch. James Gillespie, a cousin, lives at Lead.
