He was a 1953 graduate of Newton High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and was on the church council. He was a former member of the Burlington Golf Club, Kiwanis for over 50 years, and served on the Board at Hope Haven and the Low Rent Housing Board. He was a gifted woodworker, loved taking photos, golfing, coached youth sports, played football, but loved baseball. Tom especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
