They are Everett E. Culbertson, killed in action in Germany on September 19; and Thomas Trumbo, who was killed in France on September 24. Parents of the boys received messages from the war department this week. The telegrams gave no details of how they met their deaths. Everett Culbertson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Culbertson who live on East Clay street in Osceola. He was 31 years old. He was inducted in Osceola on March 13, 1942. His brother Raymond, was reported missing in action a few weeks ago, but subsequent word has been received, stating he has returned to his company. Before official word had been received, his wife had letters from him indicating the first message had been in error. Everett was employed at the Lewis Chevrolet garage at the time of his induction. Thomas Trumbo was a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Trumbo of Liberty township. He was 21 years old. He was inducted here in March 1943. His sister, miss Jean Trumbo is a teacher in the Osceola schools.
