Read More	Civil War Veteran OLD RESIDENT OF WHEELER BURIED AT HOBART TODAY Thomas Hagerty, a pioneer of the country southwest of Wheeler and a native of Ireland, was buried today at Hobart, following services held there in the Catholic church. Mr. Hagerty died Monday at the home of his son, John Hagerty, residing in Hobart. He had suffered a long time from ill health, and last winter underwent an operation in a Chicago hospital to relieve a pressure on the brain that affected his mind. After that he made rapid improvement, in spite of his advanced age of over 80 years, but lately the tide turned. Mr. Hagerty was known by nearly everyone around Wheeler and Hobart as "Uncle Tommy," and he was a familiar figure to many of the people here. For many years he hauled milk to the Wheeler stand with spirited horses, and met with several runaways during the time, but his strong constitution always brought him safely through the injuries sustained. Albert Hagerty, of Hurlburt, this county, is a grandson of the deceased. Published in the Valparaiso Porter County Vidette (Valparaiso, IN), on June 7, 1916, pg. 1. ~~ WILL OF THOMAS HAGERTY PROBATED HERE TODAY (From Thursday's Daily) The will of Thomas Hagerty, of Wheeler, who was buried in Hobart yesterday, was probated here today in the circuit court, and John Hagerty, in whose home Mr. Hagerty died, fared best of all the heirs. By the terms of the will this son gets $2,000, to be held in trust here by the First Trust company, its earnings to be paid him semi-annually. However, should sickness disable him at any time, the administrator is to pay a sufficient amount for his sustenance above the earnings. At the end of ten years all that remains in the fund must be paid to him or his legatees. Mrs. Anna Scollay, a daughter, gets $1,200, and several grandchildren $200 each. George and Lyda, son and daughter of the deceased, received more than their share of the estate previous to the demise, the will states. The instrument was drafted over a year ago, and signed with Mr. Hagerty's mark in the presence of Robert Field, H. W. Abbott and Henry Traeger, the last of whom is named as executor.
