The Banner-Press (David City, Nebraska) 26 Mar 1936, Thu Page 1 Thomas Walla Died, Was Long-Time Resident Funeral Services Held at Loma Saturday Morning Loma, March 23 - Thomas Walla, a long-time resident of Butler county, passed away at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at St. Elizabeth's hospital, Lincoln, following an illness of 10 days, at the age of 79 years, three months and 21 days. Funeral services were held for Mr. Walla from St. Luke's Catholic church in Loma at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment was in St. Luke's Catholic cemetery, near Loma. Thomas Walla was born in Moravia, Austria Hungary, November 28, 1856, where he grew to manhood and was united to Agnes Mold. The young couple came to America and located near Linwood, later moving to a farm south of Loma where they resided for more than 20 years. Following the death of Mrs. Walla on September 30, 1929, Mr. Walla retired from active farm life and moved to a farm house south of Loma, where he lived with his daughter, Miss Agnes, until death. To Mr. and Mrs. Walla nine children were born, two of whom preceded their father in death, Joe, passing away in Moravia, and Leopold at Loma on January 4, 1928. The surviving children are John Walla, Robert Walla, Adolph Walla and Miss Agnes Walla of Loma, Peter Walla of Dalton, Mrs. William Rezac of Sidney and Mrs. Alois Divis of Loma. He is also survived by one brother, George Wall, of El Paso, Tex. In addition to farming Mr. Walla also worked at carpenter trade. A number of farme homes and buildings near Loma were erected by him. He was an energetic man and kindly neighbor and leaves a wide circle of warm friends.
