Description	:	Thomas Weston Thompson, III (Tommy), 74, died in peace at home in Warrenton, Virginia, on April 8, 2012, after a five year illness. His wife, Lee, was with him as were his son, Scott, and his first-born grandson, Jake. Tommy was born in Washington, DC, on January 03, 1938, the only child of Thomas W. Thompson Jr. and Elizabeth Weaver Thompson and was raised in Warrenton. His wife, Lee, was with him as were his son, Scott, and his first-born grandson, Jake. Tommy was born in Washington, DC, on January 03, 1938, the only child of Thomas W. Thompson Jr. and Elizabeth Weaver Thompson and was raised in Warrenton. He graduated from Fauquier High School and attended Emory & Henry College and the University of Virginia, ultimately receiving a Masters in Banking from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1962, he married Patricia Loudon. They had two children, a son, Thomas Scott, and a daughter, Lee Anne. They divorced in 1986. In 1993 Tommy married Lee Walker. Tommy was a banker for 47 years starting as a teller at First & Citizens National Bank in Alexandria, Virginia. In 1971 he became Vice President of the Island Bank in Holmes Beach, Florida. While with the Island Bank, he led the opening of the first branch bank in Florida after a change in Florida law. He later became Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of the County Bank in Palmetto, Florida. In 1987, Tommy returned to Warrenton, working for the Peoples National Bank, Rappahannock National Bank, and Union Bank before retiring in 2006. Tommy was active in the community serving as President of the Florida Bankers Association, the Anna Maria Island Rotary Club, and the Manatee High School Sports Boosters Club. He was also active in the Fauquier Community Theatre as actor and board member. Tommy is survived by his wife Lee; his son and daughter-in-law Thomas Scott and Loren Thompson of Arlington, Virginia; their sons Thomas Jacob and Liam Samuel; his daughter and son-in-law Lee Anne and Robert Hinman of Valdosta, Georgia; their son Matthew James. He is also survived by his step-daughter Amanda Blair MacDonald of Chicago, Illinois; her husband Dan; their daughter Blair Matheson; his step-son Robert B. Ellis, III also of Chicago; his wife Marcella, and their daughters Audrey Irene and Adele Walker. Tommy will be buried with his parents in the Warrenton cemetery. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 15, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Lung Cancer Partnership.
