Mr. Elliott was born September 28, 1883 in Benton County, Iowa, the son of Jeffrey and Eliza Dexter Elliott. He was a graduate of the Tilford Academy in Vinton. Read More	Progress Review, La Porte City, Iowa Wednesday, November 29, 1972, Page 12 Thomas William Elliott passed away November 20, 1972 at Colonial Manors Nursing Home, La Porte City, where he had been a resident for the last eight months. Mr. Elliott was born September 28, 1883 in Benton County, Iowa, the son of Jeffrey and Eliza Dexter Elliott. He was a graduate of the Tilford Academy in Vinton. On December 20, 1905, he was married to Anna Kaiser. To this union the following children were born; Mrs. Mabel Zobel, Vinton; George, Harold, Charlotte Elliott, Mrs. Elizabeth Niemeyer, La Porte City; Thomas William, Jr., Liberty, Missouri; Mrs. Marjorie Rausch, Donald Elliott, Cedar Falls; Merle Elliott, Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his first wife on November 20, 1953, one son, Elvin, a grandson Steward Raymond Elliott, a stepson, Bruce Schnepf, and a sister, Mrs. Mata Witt. Mr. Elliott was a long time farmer, a City Councilman, a fifty-year member of the Knights of Pythias, a farm manager, a part owner of a hog buying station, and a manager of the former La Porte city canning company. Mr. Elliott was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City. Tom, as his friends called him, was very much interested in conservation and always planted two trees when only one was cut. Consequently, some of the memorial money the family has received will be used for some trees to be planted at Colonial Manors. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia, five sons, George and Harold, La Porte City; Thomas William, Jr., Liberty, Missouri; Donald, Cedar Falls, Merle, Waterloo; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Zobel, Vinton; Charlotte Elliott, Mrs. Elizabeth Niemeyer, La Porte City; Mrs. Marjorie Rausch, Cedar Falls; four stepsons, Melvin Schnepf, Bernard Schnepf, Jesse Schnepf all of Independence Iowa; Veridius Schnepf, Sedalia, Missouri. Also surviving are four step-daughters, Mrs. Catherine Rouse Mrs. Marilyn Rouse, both of Independence, Iowa; Mrs. Hilda Sauer and Virginia Schnepf, Brandon, Iowa. Thirty-three grandchildren, twenty-four step-grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and two brothers, A.E. (Bert) Elliott, La Porte City, and Ralph Elliott, Galt, California also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Elliott were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 1972 in St. Paul United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Ruppert was the officiating pastor. Casketbearers were David Schnepf, Terry Rouse, Dennis Schnepf, Eugene Zobel, Paul Elliott and Thomas Elliott III. Honorary bearers were Rick Elliott, Danny Elliott, Mike Elliott, Mark Elliott, Jeffrey Elliott, Steve Elliott, Kim Elliott, Dennis Elliott, David Elliott, Walter Zobel, Randy Rausch, Richard Zobel, Robert Zobel, Jimmy Schenpf, David Schnepf, and Tony Rouse. Services were in charge of Johannsen-Rossow Funeral Home and interment was in Westview Cemetery.
