Read More	Thomas William Larrabee Thomas William Larrabee, 84 years, 11 months, 18 days, New Palestine died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007. As we sing in that favorite hymn, "Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all its sons away..." a hardworking man of farm, field and auctions, Thomas William Larrabee was loyal to his friends and proud of his saving ways. He had many friends and family in Marion County, but prior to his retirement to the Altenheim Community, in Indianapolis in October 2004, he was a life-long resident of Hancock County. He was born March 14, 1922, in the New Palestine home of his parents. Tom was a farmer for 33 years and also retired in 2005 from the Auto Dealers Exchange after 32 years with his "car-side" roaming free. Confirmed March 25,1934, in what was originally the Deutsche Evangelische Zion's Kirche, and is today the Zion United Church of Christ in New Palestine, Tom was a graduate, all 12 years, in the New Palestine schools, Class of 1940. He remained in contact with Zion, as well as with Wallace Street Presbyterian, where his children were confirmed, and Burge Terrace Baptist which always welcomed him so warmly and faithfully. Descended from one of the pioneer families in Hancock County, he was the oldest of the five children born to Thomas Wilfred DVM (died 1969) and Nellie Marie Smith Larrabee (1987). He met his wife of 27 years, Barbara May Davisson Larrabee Patrick (2000), at roller skating rink. These and three of their four children, John Walter (1967), Melanie Louise Larrabee Staton (1994), and Thomas W. Larrabee III (2001) preceded him in death, along with his brothers John Wilford (1945), Patrick Jeremiah (2000), and Michael Miller Larrabee (2005). Growing up, Tom enjoyed music lessons and pets while spending lots of time accompanying his father (as did his brothers and sister) on the veterinary calls. After high school, he rode a motorcycle and told of wanting to begin his life's work of farming, which was the way he served our country in World War II. Tom loved being with people, driving, politics, visiting, music, dancing, food and parties. Altenheim gave him many good times. He was a man who took special care of his elders and seldom complained. In his much wider than normal circle of experiences, many treasured and saddened friends survive him in the Schilling, Inman, Payne, Maupin, Short, Escue, Tomonovich, Chateau, Thompson, Arnold, Hockett, Phillips, and Goins families. Family survivors are his daughter, Kathie Ann Larrabee (Robert) Orr, Robert C. Miller, Canton, Mich.; sister, Myrtle Anna Larrabee Anderson, New Palestine; and granddaughter, Janet Louise Larrabee (J. Randall) Dice, Indianapolis; four grandsons, William Thomas (Angela) Larrabee, Ohio; John Walter Larrabee, California; Robert Paige (Natalie) Orr and Caleb Cree Aleksandr Orr, England. His surviving cousins include: JoAnn (Robert) Harper, Ann (James) Dunnichay and Harry (Betsy) Larrabee in Indiana, and in Washington, the Neff and Larrabee families. Mr. Larrabee has five great-grandchildren: Kirby Edward, Kevin William and Kaleb Randall Dice, Indianapolis; and Allison Kay and Jacob Cameron Larrabee, Cincinnati; along with many nieces, nephews and their children in this area. Memorials may be made to Altenheim Community, 3525 E. Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Mr. Larrabee, aka. Tom, Tommie, TW, Mr. Tom, the Banana King, the Circle City Tomcat, or Thomas William is to be cremated with final resting in New Palestine Cemetery.
