Description	:	Mexican War Veteran; Thomas's wife was Adaline Porter who was born 1842 in NY. She was married to Thomas W Read on the 5th of July 1858 in Henry County, MO. She died in Jefferson Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa in March 1870 of Inflammation of the womb. Source: Find A Grave member 47092515 Mr. read was murdered in his home two miles east of Brooklyn. Robbery was the suspected motive. Remained unsolved for several years. Two men confessed and both were convicted and sent to Fort Madison Prison.
