Description	:	Services were held Monday, Mar. 15, 2010 at First English Lutheran Church in Lennox for Thyra Naatjes, 98, who died early Thursday morning, Mar. 11, 2010 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Officiating during the service was Rev. Hugh Brewer. Pallbearers were Arlyn Surdez, David Surdez, Darwin Surdez, Don Harder, Christopher Surdez, and Anthony Surdez. Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery. Thyra Jewell Wilding was born in Lennox, SD on Apr. 18, 1911, the daughter of Wilfred and Elizabeth (Fodness) Wilding. She grew up in Lennox and graduated from Lennox High School in 1929. On October 11, 1933 she was married to Perry Jennings at her parental home in Lennox. Following their marriage they lived in Lennox, Worthing, Humboldt and then returned to Lennox. Perry died on April 19, 1952. Thyra was married to Sievert Naatjes on Feb. 20, 1963. They lived in Lennox their entire married life. She had been employed at Council Oaks Grocery Store, J.C. Penney's, K & K in Beresford and Beach's Hardware in Lennox from 1962 to 1988. She retired at age 75. Her husband, Sievert, died on May 3, 1975. Thyra was a life long member of First English Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the adult choir. In later years she enjoyed quilting at the church. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her father on Oct. 23, 1943 and her mother on April 27, 1987. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter: Evonne Surdez and her husband, Arlyn, of Brandon; three grandchildren: Dee Harder and her husband, Don, of Hartley, IA, David Surdez of St. Paul, NM and Darwin Surdez and his wife, Angie, of Brandon; eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
