CHILDHOOD August 8th, 1862 Tragically, Tilford's brother passed away when Tilford was an infant of 4 months old. His brother, Alfred was 14 months old when he died. December 23rd, 1863 When Tilford was a toddler his baby sister, Emma Florence Myers was born during rhe a Civil War. December 13th, 1864 Tilford's father was a Civil War Soldier. Tragically, his father died during the Civil War at the age of 24, leaving behind his young mother, age 21, Tilford, age 2 and a half, and his sister age 11 months.
