(Eckert) Ehlers was born to her loving parents Max William and Rosa Adeline (Kant) Eckert on Saturday September 28, 1912 at Stanton, Stanton County Nebraska per Tillie's obituary. Per Winside Centennial Book Tillie was born on a farm northwest of Pilger. Tillie was the second born of four siblings. Tillie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Tillie attended elementary school at Winside, Wayne County, then to college at Wayne State College. Tillie taught in Winside country schools for several years. Tillie was united in marriage to Carl Ehlers on Sunday June 20, 1937 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Winside, they were blessed with one daughter over the years of their marriage. Carl and Tillie first farmed a farm south of Winside. Tillie was an active member in their church teaching religion classes and playing the organ. In 1944 they moved to a farm west of Pilger, Stanton County. Tillie and Carl lived on this farm for nearly fifty years. Tillie and Carl during these years were members of St. John's Lutheran of Pilger. There Tillie was very active in the Ladies Aid, Baker Dozen, and the Home Extension Club. Sadly Tillie passed at the St. Joseph Nursing Home at Norfolk, Madison County on Monday December 13, 1993 at the age of 81 years, 2 months, 15 days which does not include her last day, she lived a total of 29,661 days. Tillie's funeral service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church of Pilger on Thursday December 16, 1993 with Pastor Phillip Vanee officiating. Tillie was interred in the Pilger Cemetery. Tillie's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Tillie by Loren R.
