Dennis Fonkert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home Mobridge. Farming, love of the land and livestock, was a way of life for Tilmer Larson. Tilmer, the youngest son of Peter and Randine (Erickson) Larson, celebrated his 98th birthday, May 20, 2005, at the family homestead where he was born, four miles south of Mound City. He grew up here and attended school at the Larson & Kuehl School. He went to Payallup, Wash., in 1926 and after two years he returned to Campbell County in his model T roadster to farm with his brother Harry. He married Mae Gray of Selby in 1931, and they made their home on the family homestead, then moved to Sumner, Wash., in 1945, where Tilmer was employed in the shipyards, constructing air craft carriers. In 1949 they returned to Bison, S.D., where they farmed and ranched. In 1957 he returned to the Larson Homestead to make their permanent home south of Mound City. From this union of 65 years came five children: four boys and one girl. Tilmer was active in church and community affairs, he served on the Norway Lutheran Church Council in many capacities, and served on the ASC committee. At the South Dakota State Fair in 1990, Tilmer was honored as “Century Farm Owner,” the farm being in the Family since 1888. He is survived by three sons, Basil (Jane), LeVern (Elaine) of Mound City, Stanley (Janice) of Tacoma, Wash., and one daughter, Linda (Mike) Lipp of Aberdeen, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1996, one son, Gerald in 1944, six brothers, two sisters and one stepgrandson. Casketbearers are Tilmer's grandchildren, Bradly Larson, Rock Larson, T.J. Larson, Kevin Larson, Matt Lipp, Crystal Larson, Sheila Baker, Neoma Rossow, Danette Saur and Todd Larson.
