Description	:	Timothy Brown of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, Timothy moved from his birthplace in South Carolina before 2/1/1842. On that date he married Lucinda Gilstrap in Houston County, Georgia. By 1850 the farmily was located in Dooly County, Georgia as they were listed on the 1850 Federal Census. The oldest son of Timothy and Lucinda, William Henry Brown said in his application for a pension as a result of his service with the CSA during the War Between the States, that the family lived about six miles Northeast of Vienna. Read More	Timothy Brown of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, Timothy moved from his birthplace in South Carolina before 2/1/1842. On that date he married Lucinda Gilstrap in Houston County, Georgia. By 1850 the farmily was located in Dooly County, Georgia as they were listed on the 1850 Federal Census. The oldest son of Timothy and Lucinda, William Henry Brown said in his application for a pension as a result of his service with the CSA during the War Between the States, that the family lived about six miles Northeast of Vienna. The family moved to Florida about 1856-1857. They were enumerated on the at the Newnansville PO, the then county seat for Alachua County, on the 1860 Federal Census for Alachua County. Timothy's occupation was farmer. On April 30, 1864 he entered the service of the CSA in the First Florida Reserves, Company A. At the time he entered the service he was 46 years of age. Also entereing the service on that date was the second son of Timothy and Lucinda, Zachariah Taylor Brown. Zack entered the same unit. Zack was sixteen. The First Florida reserves saw service in North Florida and there is no indication they left the state of Florida. This unit also had a part in the Battle of Natural Bridge which took place south of Tallahassee. During the battle of Natural Bridge, the Union troops were forced to retreat and Tallahassee was the only Confederate state capitol east of the Mississippi that was not captured. At the war's end, Timothy was paroled at Madison, Florida. His discription on the Oath of Alegience to the Union, he was described as 5' 10" in height, of medium build, blue eyes and fair hair. He had not recived any pay for his military service. On the 1870 census, Timothy was enumerated at the Gainesville PO. His occupation was listed as carpenter.
