Description	:	Timothy Edward Hilger, 56, of Gresham died July 1, 2008. Tim was a lifelong truck driver with his most memorable experiences being with Sunflower Carriers of York. He was awarded numerous safety awards including the President's Top 100 Drivers in the United States. Tim was also an accomplished poet and also wrote many songs. A favorite poem was entitled "Trucks," dated July 25,1994. Trucks There was a time it was fun to drive my truck, Going places, seeing things, making a buck, The highways were endless, stretching to new lands, Now I know them all, like the back of my hand. Each day was an adventure, something new, Now it's old hat to me, unless it comes right out of the blue. The trucks, the machines, I loved them all. With their style, their feel, big motors or small. The trucks were my life, happiness, my home. They were my freedom to where I wanted to roam. Now the years have taken their toll, it's just a job. I am loosing my love for my long time heart throb. Now new drivers emerge on the scene, They have skills that are sharp and keen. Their eyes are bright, thoughts are clear, and ready to go, They got their mark to make and it's on with the show. For me it's almost over, I've had my day in the sun. I've turned a lot of miles, I've had my share of fun. All things must come to an end, with trucking it's the same. I do love them old trucks, and I still have love for the game. Tim Hilger 7-25-94 Tim is survived by his son, Jason. Preceding him in death were his brother, Bob, and his parents. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery in York on July 2, 2008.
