Holister. Papa's name is in the book on page 174." Salida Record January 26, 1917 Tim Graham, a pioneer Rio Grande engineer and well known resident of this city, died Monday at the Soldiers' Home in Monte Vista. Funeral services were held at that place Tuesday afternoon under the auspices of the G.A.R. Mrs. Graham was with her husband when he died, having gone fro her home here to Monte Vista when Mr. Graham became ill about two weeks ago. The three children, Maude, Walter and Hazel left here Monday morning but did not reach Monte Vista until after their father had passed away. After the funeral Mrs. Graham and children went to the home of Mrs. C.A. Woody, at Hooper, a sister of Mrs. Graham, and have visited there since. Salida Record February 1, 1917 Timothy Gladden Graham was born in Buffalo, N.Y. May 16, 1842. He came to Colorado in 1859 (Pike's Peak ten). He joined the army as a volunteer, belonging one year to Co. C., 1st Colorado Infantry, and at the expiration of that time, re-enlisted in 1st Reg. Colo. Cavalry and served until the end of the war. He took part in 36 Indian fights, including the Battle of Sand Creek; also several fights with the Texans, one of which was the battle of Apache Canon, where the Texans called them the Pike's Peak devils. He was one of the squad of soldiers detailed to capture the Mexican outlaw, Espinosa. After the close of the war he went to Denver and in 1873 was married to Mrs. Hattie Biglow, the mother of Mrs. C.M. Rout of this city. He was then in the employ of the D & R.G. railroad company where he has since been employed until last August. Mrs. Graham died on January 23, 1895 and was buried in Fairview cemetery. On October 16, 1898 he was again married to Miss Edna Rout, of Salida, and has since resided here, with the exception of the last year which he had spent in the Soldier's home in Monte Vista. He was taken ill about 8 weeks ago and gradually became weaker until the end came last Monday, January 22. He was buried in the Soldiers' cemetery at the home. He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters, three brothers and two sisters.
