Born in Gaffney, S.C. he was the husband of the late Myra Jordan Martin and the son of the late Merrill Ethel Martin and Katie Pansy White Martin. He was retired from Carolina Rubber Rolls and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Boiling Springs, S.C. Surviving is a son, Michael Grant Martin of Spartanburg; a daughter, Kate Martin Hobbs and husband, Ryan of Spartanburg; a brother, Stephen Martin and wife, Jane of Cowpens; five sisters, Ellen March, Verrill Spate, Dawn Cerny, Ann Elliott and husband, Dewitt and June DeVaney and husband, Dennis, all of Cowpens; and three grandchildren, Ethan Charles Hobbs, Abby Katherine Hobbs and Morgan Martin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Ray Martin, Harold Lee Martin and Stanley LaGrande Martin. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Gaffney. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with President Bryan Fore officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Rosemont Cemetery in Union, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303. The family will be at their respective homes.
