He was born in Horry County, a son of the late Jerry M. and Martha Caroline Jenerette Squires. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was owner and operator of Sea Squires Motel at Surfside Beach. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Squires of Conway; a daughter, Jo Ann S. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Dix Squires; a son, James Deyerl Squires; four brothers, Herbert Squires, Jack Squires, Hampton Squires and Colie Squires; and two sisters, Eva Martin and Frostie Squires. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Baptist church. The Rev. Wayne Reviskey and the Rev. Gary Harrelson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 4008 Salem Road, Aynor, SC 29511
