Description	:	Torbjørn was the middle child of five born to Iver Torbjørnsen and his wife Guri Persdatter of the Nåsen farm located near Oppheim in the province of Hordaland, Norway. He was the only one of his immediate family to come to the United States. Following his father's death on October 3, 1895, and with a sense of adventure, the 24 year old Torbjørn made his way to Bergen, Norway on March 23, 1897 where he bought passage to Liverpool, England on a Cunard Steamship. Following his father's death on October 3, 1895, and with a sense of adventure, the 24 year old Torbjørn made his way to Bergen, Norway on March 23, 1897 where he bought passage to Liverpool, England on a Cunard Steamship. From Liverpool, he traveled on another Cunard ship, "Lucania" which landed at Ellis Island, New York Harbor on April 3, 1897. On the ship's passenger list, his name is recorded as "Thorbjorn I. Naason". After writing a few letters home, he began to sign his letters, "Tom Iverson." Tom's immediate destination in the States was to the home of an uncle on his mother's side, Ole Pederson Jordahl. He had come to the States in 1866 with his young family and settled in Winnebago County, Iowa. After greeting his Iowa family, Tom proceeded onward to Montana where a near neighbor of his family in Norway, Mons Teigen, had immigrated in the 1870's. He wrote "home" and offered a job to anyone from the "old country" who might want to make a new start in the United States. Family legend states that in order to get from Iowa to Montana, he walked for a significant part of the trip. On the 1900 Census he was listed as being a "sheep herder", employed by the Teigen Ranch in Fergus County. On November 2, 1906 in Lewistown, Montana, he married Annette Mathilda Andersen from the nedre Ruteig farm in the Våle district of Norway. She had come to the States in 1905 to work and was employed at the Teigen Ranch as a cook. The newlyweds first settled at Ft. Maginnis and, by 1912, moved to a homestead at Dovetail where they raised sheep. Three children were born to this couple, Andrew Ivar in 1907; Isaac George in 1910, and Guri Ann in 1914. The original homestead is still an operational ranch at Dovetail and is owned by Isaac's son and family.
