Born in Newberry, he was the husband of Julia (Judy) Smith Bishop and son of the late Clayton Thomas Bishop and Mitti Vera Hayes Bishop. Mr. Bishop retired from Timken after 17 years of service, was a U. S. Navy veteran and was a ham radio operator, extra class (call sign AJ4VR). He loved the Lord and his Church family and adored his son. Tommy never met a stranger and he loved all his friends. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Terrill Bishop of Spartanburg; a stepson, Jonathan S. Saunders and wife, Natalia of Brazil; two stepdaughters, Darylann Ververka of Spartanburg and Margie S. Clark and husband, Brian of Audubon, NJ; a brother, Burt Bishop and wife, Jan of Spartanburg; a granddaughter, Sarina Brandle; six step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Clark, Victoria Clark, Melanie Saunders, Janie Saunders, Chelsea Saunders and Amanda Ververka; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Stephen Meredith and wife, Kim of Spartanburg. June 10, 2011 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Spartanburg. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Charlie Glover officiating. Interment will be in the Mt.
