T. Thompson, well known cement contractor, who died here Tuesday afternoon. He was working hard all day Saturday and drove in the evening to Des Moines to purchase parts for his automobile. Returning home late he ? and was in his usual health. At 5 o'clock the next morning he awoke and told his wife that he wanted to arise and do a little work before breakfast. Mrs. Thompson went back to sleep but was awakened a little before 6 o'clock to find Mr. Thompson breathing hard, and before a physician could be called he expired. Death was due to apoplexy. Mr. Thompson was one of the well known men of the county and he and son Floyd have operated a dray service in connection with their concrete business. He was an industrious citizen and was widely known for his gracious hospitality, and he has always been a rendezvous for family, friends and people of the community. He was a man whose home interests always came first. Mr. Thompson, who was around 54 years of age, had lived in and near here most of his life. ~ The Newton Daily News, May 13, 1924.
