Description	:	Tosten was born near Elkader Iowa, on a farm located half way between Elkader and Elgin. Tosten moved to the Dakotas with his parents in 1877. He was listed in the 1880 census as single and living with his sister Kari and her family. Tosten married Gunhild Peterson about 1881. Tosten and Gunhild moved to Kingsbury Co from Moody county between the years 1881 - 1882 near Hetland. Tosten worked for the railroad for a number of years and then he farmed south of Hetland. Tosten and Gunhild had sixteen children. They are Ole T, Knudt T, Cornelius T, Carrie, Stiner T, Theodore T, Gayheart, Eddie, Selma, Elmer A, Stiner A, Bertha, Melvina, Melvin, Clarence, and Lyle. No doubt they had a busy and active household. Tosten died Feb 18,1910 age 54 and is buried at Whitewood cemetery next to his parents, After a severe illness.
