Description	:	Muscatine Journal Townsend M. Brown, 83, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Lone Tree, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. The Rev. Ann Rouse will officiate. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the class of 1933. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. at the Sorden Funeral Home in Lone Tree. Mr. Brown was born on June 5, 1916, in Nichols, the son of Towney N. and Elda Merle Colbert Brown. He married Phyllis W. Joens on May 19, 1943, in Lone Tree. Phyllis died April 6, 1968. He later married Cordelle Foster on September 15, 1973, in West Branch. She died September 17, 1999. Townsend was a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Abner Lodge No. 535 in Lone Tree, Order of Eastern Star in Lone Tree, BPO Elks Club in Green Valley, High Twelve Masonic Lodge Acasia No. 505, and SantaRita Club in Green Valley. He farmed in the Nichols and Lone Tree area and worked for Wal-Mart in Green Valley. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Lois Stoltze and her husband, Daniel of Boone and Elizabeth Kaufman and her husband, David, of Ainsworth; a son, Don Brown and his wife, Pam, of Lone Tree; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Loren Brown of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and both wives.
