Description	:	Tresse Hartman-Broberg, age 94, of Helena, died Sunday morning, Aug. 4, 2002, at a local care facility in Helena. Tresse as born in McClusky, N.D., Aug. 29, 1907, to Tharold and Bertha Hegney. She received her education in North Dakota and also attended Vermillion Hospital School of Nursing in 1927. Tresse as born in McClusky, N.D., Aug. 29, 1907, to Tharold and Bertha Hegney. She received her education in North Dakota and also attended Vermillion Hospital School of Nursing in 1927. Tresse worked for Galen State Hospital in Galen, Mont., in 1938. She married Ray Hartman in Livingston on Sept. 16, 1940. The couple owned and operated a number of different tavern businesses including the Red Meadow Bar in Helena and the Mint Bar in Drummond in the 1940s. In 1953, they owned and operated the York Bar and Store at York. They both retired in 1966. Ray preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1976. Tresse married John Broberg on Sept. 17, 1977, he preceded her in death on March 24, 1996. Tresse enjoyed sewing, cooking, knitting, gardening, numerous other crafts, fishing and simply being outdoors. A visit from family and friends always made her day. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Helena and Bay Shore Bells at Canyon Ferry. In addition to her husbands, Tresse was preceded in death by her 10 brothers and two sisters. Tresse is survived by her son, Ted Hoffer, of Helena; sister Wilma Boehm of Livingston; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Retz Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at the Retz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forestvale Cemetery. Memorials in Tresse's name are suggested to the Hospice of St. Peter's, 2475 Broadway St., Helena, MT 59601. Helena Independent Record August 7, 2002
