He was a son of Steven and Rachel Weddle, and in early childhood moved with his parents to Hensley township, Johnson county where he grew to manhood. He was married April 19th 1855 to Mary J. Spicer who with four children preceded him to the better land. To this union twelve children were born, eight of whom survive with nine grandchildren, namely, Thomas, Harrison, Alonzo, Jo Freeman, Margaret and Delilah of Reserve, Kansas, Mrs. Lou Adams of Hamlin, Kansas and Wm. Weddle of this city, all of whom were present at the time of his death. Besides his children and grandchildren he leaves two brothers and two sisters to mourn their loss, Leman Weddle of Nebraska and Mrs. Dave Barnes of Morral, Kas., Mrs. Rachel Brown and Joe Weddle of Hensley township this state. Mr. Weddle with his family moved to Kansas in 1884, where he has since resided and at the time of his death was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of said community. He was ever ready to lend a helping hand and was respected and loved by all who knew him. He has been in feeble health for some time and on Wednesday afternoon Jan. 15th suffered a stroke of paralysis and passed into the better land. He was a member of the Reserve Christian church some forty-six years, and for about thirteen years was elder of same. Funeral services were held at this church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19th. Their children : Sarah C., Thomas, Stephen, "Laura", T.Harrison, Andrew, Rachel, Alonzo, Delilah & Joseph. Truman's brother Joseph was married to Truman's wife's sister Deliah Spicer.
