Twila Margaret Beavers, daughter of Elza Don and Susan Margaret [Gridner] Cochell, was born December 1, 1918, near Lucerne in Putnam County, Missouri, and died December 10, 2003, at the Corydon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon, Iowa, at the age of 85 years. Twila was reared in Mercer County, Missouri, and was a graduate of Mercer High School. She and Harold lived in Lineville, Iowa, for a few years before purchasing a home in Mercer where Twila has lived for the past 48 years. She worked for over 17 years as a cashier for the Peoples Bank of Mercer. Twila had a great passion for her family, politics, and nature, and was a wonderful cook. Twila was married to Leslie Wayne Evans in 1938, and to this union a daughter, Barbara Sue, was born. In 1945 she was married to Harold Everett Beavers, and to this union a daughter, Marquetta, was born. Twila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Beavers; one brother, Lewis Cochell; and by a son-in-law, John Sweeney. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Sue Sweeney of Fresno, California, and Marquetta Rhoades (and son-in-law, Dan) of Clio, Iowa: one sister Edoth Lovett, also of Clio; and by her six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her body was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee - Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, Iowa.
