Description	:	Somerset's first traffic fatality in more than a year claimed the life of a 72 year old farmer from Trimble early Saturday afternoon. Killed in a two truck accident at the intersection of West Columbia Street and South U.S. 27 Truck Route was Tye L. Bland of Trimble. He died of internal injuries before he reached the hospital, officers said. Killed in a two truck accident at the intersection of West Columbia Street and South U.S. 27 Truck Route was Tye L. Bland of Trimble. He died of internal injuries before he reached the hospital, officers said. According to police reports, Bland was driving west on Columbia Street in a 1938 Ford half-ton truck and had started to cross the Truck Route when he was struck on the left side by a 1950 GMC half-ton truck. Mr. Bland was born October 18, 1882, the son of Thomas and Mary Barnett Bland. He married Myrtle Baker November 3, 1903. No children were born to this union, but Mr. and Mrs. Bland reared a boy, Eddie Bland. Mr. Bland professed his faith in Christ in 1904 and united with the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was active in the church, holding the offices of Sunday School superintendent, song leader, and treasurer, and was also a Deacon in the church. He was active in the work of the Pulaski County Association of Missionary Baptists and was a member of the Association's executive board. Mr. Bland is survived by his wife; his son, Eddie Bland; one brother, Joe Bland, Kingman, Indiana; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Prather and the Rev. Edwin Haney conducted the services. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
