Description	:	Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon of this week (May 31, 1950) from the home and from the Lyon County First Presbyterian church for Ulfert J. Willemssen, 62, well-known farmer of this community who passed away on Saturday of last week (May 27, 1950) at a Rochester, Minnesota hospital, after a short illness. Rev. M. Willemssen, 62, well-known farmer of this community who passed away on Saturday of last week (May 27, 1950) at a Rochester, Minnesota hospital, after a short illness. Rev. M. Brower officiated at the services, which were conducted by the Vogelaar Funeral Service of George. Ulfert J. Willemssen was born on January 1, 1888 and passed away on May 27, 1950, attaining the age of 62 years, 4 months and 26 days. His birthplace is the site of the present Willemssen home, located two miles south and two miles east of George. He spent the younger years of his life assisting with the farm work of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Willemssen, together with one brother and two sisters. In March, 1914, Mr. Willemssen was united in marriage to Lydia Martins. With the death of his wife, Lydia, in December, 1918, Mr. Willemssen took up his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Behrends. During his stay in this home, he kept farming his land. On February 25, 1925, Mr. Willemssen was united in marriage to Amanda Wortman. Again they took up resident on his farm where they have resided until his death. Mr. Willemssen took a great interest and pride in his work and mad numerous friends through his interests. He was especially loved by little children. He was a faithful member of the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church all of his life. Mr. Willemssen was an officer of the church for many years. He has served faithfully in the capacity of Trustee and Deacon. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Willemssen, his first wife Lydia, one brother and one sister. Mr. Willemssen leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Amanda; one sister, Mrs. Dick Behrends; four nephews and three nieces, together with a host of relatives and friends.
